News and Events
Smiles say to our volunteers - all of your hard work is worth it!
  • Children Feeling Great About New Clothes
    October 2014
October is the month that our chapter looks forward to all year. During this month we host 10 shopping sessions for North County elementary children.

Each night 100 children and their parents join our volunteers at the Target store in Encinitas to shop for up to $75 in new school clothes and shoes.

Smiles and some shrieks are frequent as the kids find just the right shirt or shoes that makes them feel special. Relief shows on the faces of their parents as they welcome one night of shopping that doesn't impact their wallet.

Our goal - provide children a positive starting point for academic success!
  • National Assistance League Wins Make a Difference Day Award
  • National Assistance League Wins Award
Without doubt, the big news this month is the national recognition our organization has received by winning the public vote for the National Make a Difference Day All-Star Award.

Once again, our ability to mobilize our volunteer members nationwide has driven our success, not only through our second annual national book drive, but also through driving our personal networks to vote for us online - so thank you to all of you who voted, encouraged your friends and family to vote, and vote often - this is your award!
  • New Board Members Begin Efforts to Benefit North County Communities
    June 4, 2014
June 1st begins our chapter's new fiscal year. Our new Board Members initial meeting to plan the year ahead occurs this month. The Board will meet the first Wednesday of each month.
  • Chapter Welcomed New Members
Assistance League Welcomed 20 New Members.

At the June luncheon all 20 of our new members were welcomed by our Vice President of Membership, Treva George. Treva's stories about each new member helped everyone to get acquainted.

Thanks to Treva for such an interesting presentation!

Welcome new members - we're so glad that you join our philanthropic efforts. We all work to give back to the communities in which we live, work and play!
  • Assistance League volunteer members model fashions at luncheon.
  • Professional Models? They are our members!
At our June monthly meeting, members and guests were treated to a creative display of the newest fashions. Our members modeled daytime and evening wear, both formal and casual. We were proud as we watched these classy ladies model as if they were professionally trained.
